Bryan/College Station, Texas, – May 30, 2018 – The Texarkana Twins fell to the Brazos Valley Bombers in front of a rowdy home crowd at Travis Field. Texarkana held the lead through the 5th inning and matched the Bombers pitch for pitch the majority of the game.
The Twins began the scoring in the 2nd inning when Twins third baseman JoJo Craig drew a walk in the second inning and came around to score on a wild pitch. The Twins then doubled their lead in the 5th inning after Jakob Nunez doubled in Dylan Ditzenberger to give the team a 2-0 lead. Twins starting pitcher, Jesse Philp, was strong on the mound for six innings only giving up five hits and one run. The Twins bullpen took over when Gage Wall came in the game for the 7th inning, and as a group they struggled giving up two runs including the walkoff hit in the 9th.
The Bombers, once again came out on top by the end of the 9th. Brazos Valley struggled getting runs through the Twins defense, but in the 6th inning Kyle Bergeron hit a single and later scored off of Ryan Newman’s sac fly to left field. The Bombers scored again in the 7th inning off of a Twins error tying the game at 2-2. The Bombers were silent during the 8th and then came alive again during the bottom of the 9th when the bases were loaded with Ryan Newman at the plate with only one out. Newman hit a ground ball to the Twins short stop Dylan Ditzenburger, who made the throw to first allowing Jordan Yeatts to add the final run to the board.
The Twins now head to Youngsville, Louisiana to face the Acadiana Cane Cutters. There they will begin a two-game series on Thursday and Friday. The Twins will continue their road trip to Dallas, Texas to face the Texas Marshals.
