Twins Fall to Bombers 6-4 in Season Opener

Texarkana, USA – May 25, 2018 – The Texarkana Twins fell to the Brazos Valley Bombers 6-4 in the season opener for both teams. Texarkana got out to an early lead but could not hold on to win the home opener.

Texarkana experienced a strong outing from starting pitcher Tyler Jeans until he ran into issues in the 5th inning. There he hit two Bomber players and gave up a 2 run single to Bomber infielder Christian Sepulveda. Shortstop Cam Halter showcased why he is a player to watch for the Twins. In the first inning, Halter showed off his speed, beating out a infield hit and then stealing a base to put the pressure on the Bombers. Another player for Texarkana who stood out was first baseman Matthew McDonald, who had two hits and a steal.

Bombers starting pitcher, Cody LeCompte, struggled early, allowing a run in each of the first two innings. He settled down after and finished the night with 4 innings pitched, 2 runs, 3 hits, and four strikeouts. The Bombers bullpen was able to keep the lead and was effective in only allowing 2 additional runs to score the remainder of the game. At the plate, the Bomber standouts were Robin Adames, who had two hits and a key RBI in the 3rd to get the Bombers on the board. The Bombers were led by Christian Sepulveda, who was dynamic both with the bat and the glove. Sepulveda hit a big 2 run single to give the Bombers a lead they would not give up.
