Twins Announce Addition of Three From Southeast MissouriTexarkana, USA – April 14, 2018 – The Texarkana Twins are excited to announce the addition of two players from Southeast Missouri (SEMO) to their 2018 roster. Redhawks Cole Bornhop, Matthew Cook, and Michael Berra agreed to join the Twins in their quest to bring the 2018 TCL Championship to Texarkana. Cole Bornhop is a Junior Catcher for SEMO, who comes to the Redhawks from Jefferson College. While at Jefferson College, Bornhop dominated the competition, hitting .331 in 52 games with 8 home runs and 36 RBIs to go with 38 runs scored. His home run total for the season was good enough to rank fourth on the team and his offensive production helped Jefferson College reach a 45-14 record. While at Lutheran South High School in St. Louis, MO, Bornhop was a top performer, earning First-Team All-Metro, All-State and All-Conference selections. Matthew Cook is a Pitcher for SEMO who has seen action during his Redshirt Freshman campaign. Cook started the year strong for the Redhawks, holding opponents to a 2.45 ERA during his first four appearances. Cook was a starter during high school at Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Ill for two years, including a senior campaign where he had a 1.09 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 19.1 innings. Michael Berra is a Redshirt Sophomore Outfielder for SEMO who can play all over the outfield. His Freshman season, he started five games for the Redhawks, collecting four hits in limited action. His character off the field earned him the Ohio Valley Conference Medal of Honor and a spot on the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. During his time at De Smet Jesuit High School, Berra was a strong hitter, hitting three home runs and 23 RBI his senior season, and hitting .407 as a Sophomore, which earned him Second Team All-Conference honors that season.
