BLOG: Texarkana Twins bring in local coaches for the staffTexarkana Twins have a coaching staff that is made up of coaches that are extremely familiar with the area. Head Coach Bill Clay grew up in the area and his brother even played in Texarkana. When asked about why they hired coaches who were familiar with the area, Brian Nelson, Head of Baseball Operations for Clutch entertainment, said “The most important thing we were looking for when hiring a head coach was experience. Coach Clay has that is abundance, especially with summer experience. Assistant coaches Rick Fowler and Zach Fowler are a father son duo that lives in the Texarkana area. Rick Fowler was the head coach for Liberty Eylau Highschool for almost 30 years. He is very well known around the area and is also respected as well. His son Zach is now the head coach for baseball at Liberty Eylau Highschool. Coaching runs in the family’s blood, and so does the city of Texarkana. Brain Nelson also said this about the Fowler’s “When it came to finding assistant coaches. The local coaches were ideal, and it is even better that we got two highly respected coaches in the area. The last but not least of the coaches is assistant coach Braden Boyd. Boyd was on the Texarkana Twins roster for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He is familiar with the area and was also a very easy choice to fill for the assistant coach job. Boyd is the youngest of the coaches, so he is one that is going to be able to help bridge the gap between the coaches and the players. All the coaches are excited for a great season of Twins baseball where they will try to lead the Twins to back to back playoff appearances. |
