Texarkana, USA (April 22, 2017)- The Twins added more depth to the outfield today as they added Blake Porter, Chandler Robertson and Joseph Sheppard to the roster and announced the final three names for the Name the Mascot Contest. 

 

Joseph Sheppard is in his first season at Henderson State after spending two seasons at Murray State College. Sheppard has started eight games in his junior season and is batting .250 for the season. Sheppard has scored three runs and stole two bases. In his first game with the Reddies against Arkansas State, Sheppard went 2-for-4 with a triple, run scored and a walk. He batted .325 with 10 home runs, 46 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 43 runs scored in his final season at Murray State College. Sheppard is from Kilgore, Texas.

 

Chandler Robertson is a sophomore at Murray State College and was a teammate of Sheppard in 2016. Robertson has had a productive two years for the Aggies. Robertson has started 41 games and is batting .345 with six home runs, 38 runs scored and a team-leading 53 RBI. Robertson has 20 walks compared to just 10 strikeouts. Robertson started all 53 games in his freshman season and posted a .401 batting average with five home runs, 41 RBI, 54 runs scored and 17 stolen bases.

 

Blake Porter is currently in his freshman campaign as South Mountain Community College. The Palo Verde, Nevada native is having a solid first year in college baseball. Porter has accumulated a .269 average and a .402 on-base percentage. Porter has played in 35 games so far and has a homerun, a triple, scored 16 runs, stole 13 bases and knocked in 18 runs. 

 

The Twins are excited to announce that the final three names for the Name the Mascot Contest have been selected. Out of all the submissions the top three names are Slugger, Rally, and Tex.
