Texarkana, USA – May 8, 2018 – The Texarkana Twins are excited to announce the addition of three players from Southeastern Missouri, Austin Sachse, Chase Hagerty, and Hunter Southerland. They will join their SEMO teammate, outfielder Michael Berra in Texarkana this summer.
Austin Sachse is a Junior left-handed pitcher from SEMO. Prior to attending SEMO, Sachse was a lockdown reliever for MCC-Longview. In 2017, Sachse struck out 34 in 26 innings pitched, while picking up 2 wins and a save. Sachse was used primarily as a multiple inning reliever who was relied upon to shut opponents down through the late innings.
Chase Hagerty is a Redshirt Sophomore pitcher for the Redhawks who has both started and pitched in relief during his SEMO career. This season, Hagerty has not allowed a run in limited action for SEMO. During his high school career, Hagerty starred for Cape Central High School in Missouri. During his first three years, Hagerty held opponents to a 1.43 ERA, striking out 295 and walking only 78. He finished his high school career strong, pitching 53 innings and striking out 70.
Hunter Southerland is a Junior catcher for SEMO, who transferred from the University of Oklahoma by way of Northeastern Oklahoma, where he spent a year in Junior College. At Oklahoma, Southerland received a fair amount of playing time as a freshman, starting 12 games for the Sooners. Then at Northeastern Oklahoma, he dominated with the bat, leading the team with 12 home runs, 45 RBIs, and hitting .317, earning Second-Team All-Region honors.
